2 min read
There are many different types of EV charging option for you to choose from, but how do you know what one is the right fit for your parking operation.
There are three levels of EV charging to know, level 1, level 2, and level 3. Each level offers its each specific uses and are good to know when deciding what to use for your parking operation. Overall, the higher the level the faster the charging and typically cost.
Level 1 EV Charger
Level 1 charging is commonly 120-volts. This is the slowest charger and is often considered too slow for cars that are driven daily and require frequent charging. These chargers are often used in households as a more cost-effective home charging option. Level 1 EV chargers replenish 4-8 kilometres of range per hour.
Level 2 EV Charger
Level 2 charging ranges from 208-volts to 240-volts. This charging option is commonly used for daily EV charging at home, the workplace, and other public spaces. Level 2 EV chargers replenish 12-128 kilometres of range per hour, charging up to 10 times faster than level 1.
Level 3 EV Charger
Level 3 charging ranges from 400-volts to 900-volts. Level 3 chargers offer direct current (DC), whereas level 1 and 2 use alternating current (AC). These chargers are commonly found in public spaces and for fleet vehicles, occasionally level 3 chargers can be found in residential homes but not often as they are high cost. Level 3 EV chargers replenish 4-32 kilometres per minute.
It is important when deciding what option of EV charger use, to know what your goals are and who is the intended customer. By answer these two questions alone you can narrow your choice options for you to better understand the best EV charger for your business.thats
