Today, drivers are notorious for blindly following their GPS to get where they need to go; which poses a serious question for parking operators—how do I make sure my neighbour is not capturing my parking revenue by using my parking lot address when registering with online services?
We asked Precise ͵ÅÄ͵¿ú's Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Alex Borin, how to ensure this isn’t the case.
Q. How to make sure your neighbour is not capturing your parking revenue by using your parking lot address when registering with online services?
A. Marketing 101 for any physical location, including parking lots, includes registering an address with online GPS services such as Google, Waze and Apple Maps, as well as a variety of in-car navigation services. The most effective way to ensure your parking lot address is not being used by anyone else, is to ensure your address is registered with respective online services. The early bird gets the worm—and usually, more than one location cannot be registered with the same address. However, if this is the case, it will allow you to flag anyone falsely claiming your address, and report their location as inaccurate, with the goal of having it removed.
Unfortunately, we cannot control the actions of others. However ensuring your address is accurate online and very visible in-person will help mitigate the issue of customers believing they are parking with you, when instead, they are being led to park with your neighbours.
